Sanitation Worker for Waste and Recycling Unit

The Community Building Administration offers creative discussions, a fast-paced environment, solution-focused working methods, and gives you the opportunity to drive and participate in changing community building processes. We are a collaborative administration between Hällefors, Lindesberg, Ljusnarsberg, and Nora municipalities with a broad mandate within the municipalities' community building processes.

The administration consists of two main operational areas: technical operations, and building and environment.

The administration develops the community and the Waste and Recycling Unit has a broad mandate including strategic waste planning, waste collection, and receiving waste at our staffed recycling centers in each municipality. The focus of the operation is to work with waste prevention measures and sustainable waste management. The department currently consists of 20 dedicated and experienced employees.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

As a sanitation worker, you, along with your colleagues, will manage customer reception at the recycling center by informing and assisting individuals and businesses in sorting their waste. Tasks such as sorting hazardous waste, cleaning the area, and checking fill levels of various fractions are also part of the job. Additionally, operating wheel loaders and sorting will be part of your daily routine as a sanitation worker. Some administrative tasks are included in the position.

Working hours are scheduled from Monday to Saturday, with both evening and weekend work occurring. The work is primarily conducted outdoors at our recycling centers. The position is based at the Gyltbo recycling center in Hällefors municipality, but work at other locations may occur as we have recycling centers in four municipalities.

The work should be permeated by a holistic perspective and driven in accordance with our values of trust, openness, respect, and engagement.

QUALIFICATIONS

To thrive in the role of sanitation worker, it is important that you can work in a planned and structured manner, have a sense of order, and possess a pedagogical approach with the ability to remain calm in stressful situations. Being able to take initiative and having good customer service skills are of utmost importance. You should enjoy working in an outdoor environment and be able to handle sometimes physically demanding work. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively with colleagues. A flexible mindset will be helpful as the work area covers half of Örebro County.

We are looking for someone who, at a minimum, has a high school education and has previously worked in a service profession with customer contacts. If you have previously worked in the industry and are interested in environmental issues, we consider that an advantage for the position.

A driver's license (B) and access to a personal vehicle, as well as a C2 driver's license with cargo handling, are required.

If you have training in ADR 1:3, Asbestos, it is considered a plus for the position. Good knowledge of Swedish, both spoken and written, is important, and other language skills in addition to Swedish are considered an advantage.
